Me and My Art
I am an artist/printmaker based in Sevenoaks, Kent; painting and screen printing from a small home studio. (I can't choose between painting and printmaking so I've decided to continue working on both!)
The processes and outcomes involved in my screen printing and painting practices are very different but I find that working in different ways helps keep me energised and excited to create art.

If I'm not busy creating something, I'll probably be out walking or at the gym!

Primarily working in acrylic but with the addition of collage, spray paint and gold leaf (amongst other media), my painting process involves building up loose, energetic layers of paint and mark making, created with a variety of tools and inspired by anything that catches my eye or captures my imagination. These unrestrained layers then give way to a more considered approach as I work towards completing the artwork.
My art is as much about the process as the end product; the paintings begin with chaos then gradually become calmer and quieter with an emphasis on freedom, space and reflection. As I work, the paintings begin to evoke memories of an experience, time or place, giving me a connection to the artwork.
I’m interested in the colours, patterns and textures created by the weathering of materials and the style of my painting is particularly influenced by the decoration and deterioration of walls and painted surfaces, along with the stories that are hidden in the layers.

Taking inspiration from my surroundings: particularly structures and landscapes, I use photography, markmaking, illustration and collage to explore the world around me and create limited edition screen prints. The artwork for my stencils is
created using photography, hand-drawn illustrations and collage, and I hand-print each edition with water-based inks on high quality 300gsm paper.
